Research Focus

I will be synthesizing novel compounds to be tested as candidates to treat chronic kidney disease (CKD), the ninth leading cause of death in the U.S. The development of new medicines for this would represent a paradigm-shift in CKD treatment options.

Why did you choose to pursue postdoctoral training at Virginia Tech?

The opportunity to work with Professor Santos, a leader in academic drug discovery, will help provide me with the environment and expertise to pursue a career in academia. His combined interests of medicinal and boron chemistry positions his research in both familiar and unfamiliar territories to me, giving me the platform to expand my knowledge whilst providing Professor Santos and the Santos group with my expertise in the field of boron chemistry.

What are you most looking forward to as you begin in this fellowship at Virginia Tech?

I'm excited to immerse myself in a new environment (and country!) and to experience and learn as much as possible in the time that I'm here.
