Research Focus
Invasive species pose one of the greatest threats to the existing biodiversity and function of ecosystems globally, and many existing datasets are untapped resources for synthesizing how these species spread. Working with the Invasive Species Collaborative at Virginia Tech, and harnessing existing datasets on invasive species, I will identify how genetic data have been used to manage invasive species. I aim to address fundamental questions about how invasive species spread, so approaches can be developed to mitigate their invasion potential.

Why did you choose to pursue postdoctoral training at Virginia Tech?
I am thrilled to be a part of Virginia Tech’s expanding network of collaborators using integrative methods to stop the global spread of invasive species. Not only does Virginia Tech produce excellent and innovative research, but by faculty mentors have been very welcoming and supportive of me as an early career scientist.

What are you most looking forward to as you begin in this fellowship at Virginia Tech?
I am looking forward to learning new methods, growing my research experience, but above all, building a network of friends and colleagues to learn and grow with.
