Responsibilities

In her role as assistant vice president for research and innovation and director of sponsored programs, Linda Duffy is responsible for working collaboratively across Virginia Tech’s research enterprise to develop, implement and oversee a full-service, customer-focused, and fully integrated Office of Sponsored Programs to support the university’s broad research portfolio. 

Background

Duffy’s professional experience with universities includes serving as an associate general counsel for the University of Pittsburgh to support its Office of Research and leading the Office of Sponsored Programs as the associate vice president of sponsored programs at Carnegie Mellon University. Most recently, she was director of contracts, grants and procurement with The RAND Corporation, a non-profit organization known primarily for its research and analysis in policy to support decision making by government officials. 

Education

Sheearned her juris doctor, masters in business administration, and a bachelor of arts; all from the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, Duffy is a certified research administrator.
