Managing Assets: How-To
Navigate to https://author.ensemble.vt.edu.
Click "My Assets".
Scroll to the website you want to upload an asset to. For Office of Research and Innovation websites, click "research_vt_edu".
It is recommended to switch to "List view". To change your view, click the icon in the upper-right that may like an arrangement of squares and rectangles (this is the Card view icon). Select List View.

Scroll down to select the folder for your unit. In this example we will be uploading a postdoc photo to use on the Postdoc Associates website. Choose the "postdoc-associates" folder.
For file uploads, click "files". For images, click "images". Depending on how organized the folder is, there could be folders for topics to better organize content.
To begin uploading an asset, click "Create"
Click "Files". You will then be prompted to select a file from your computer.
- Note: filenames should be lowercase without spaces or version numbers. If spaces are needed, replace those with "-". Example:
Correct format: file-name.pdf - Incorrect format: File Name v2.pdf
Once a file has been chosen, click "Upload".
If a file already exists, you will be prompted to either replace or keep the original file. Click "Replace".
The file will then be uploaded. The file will then need to be published. Notify the Research Communications team so that they can publish out the asset.
Tip: After the asset is published, it will be available from the "Assets" tab from the "Toggle Side Panel" area of a page editing screen. You can type in a portion of the filename to show the file. Recently added files show first without a search prompt.
