Animal Care and Use Program

The Animal Care and Use Program supports researchers and staff in meeting their regulatory responsibilities to care for animals used in their work.  

The program also supports and facilitates the work of Virginia Tech’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in fulfilling their responsibility to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as university policies and guidelines to ensure ethical care and welfare of animal subjects. The program serves the research community through:

• One-on-one consultations
• Weekly virtual office hours
• Webinars
• Tutorials
• Available for lectures
• Administrative reviews

The Animal Care and Use program provides support to research administration through:

• Serving the IACUC and stakeholders
• Processing submissions
• Working with Office of Sponsored Programs
• Maintaining and improving program processes
