Institutional Biosafety Committee Program
The mission of the Institutional Biosafety Committee program (IBCP) is to provide guidance to the Virginia Tech community regarding the use of biohazardous agents in research and instructional activities.
The program, as part of the Division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance within the Office of Research and Innovation, is the administrative office that supports the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
Program staff are available to work with faculty, staff, and students to determine if their activities require Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) approval, to provide guidance with the submission of IBC protocols, and to answer questions related to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines and other requirements and regulations related to the use of biohazardous agents.
To learn more about the Institutional Biosafety Committee, including information about the types of activities that require IBC approval, meeting dates, submission requirements, and the review process, please visit the IBC website.
